Division of Emergency Management (DEM) provides for activities to saving lives and protecting property from natural, manmade, and technological emergencies. DEM is responsible for reducing the effects of potential disasters before they occur, planning for and coordinating the operations and response to a disaster, managing resources and coordination of recovery efforts following a disaster, as well as providing public education and information.

Division of Emergency Management (DEM) also provides direction and coordination of public safety related programs, including management and operation of the County wide Enhanced 9-1-1 system data base.

Emergency Management was transferred to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office on July 20th, 2001. Provisions of an Emergency Management Program is mandated by Florida Statues Chapter 252, and the Division of Emergency Management (DEM) serves the entire County.
